Count-On-Me Summer Math & Robotics Program

Limestone Learning Foundation

The Count-On-Me Summer Math and Robotics Program is an intensive three-week intervention program for Limestone District School Board students entering grades 4 to 6. The program focuses on developing fundamental skills in proportional reasoning, specifically with multiplication skills and fractions allowing students to be more successful in their following school year.

The home school refers students who are not yet achieving the provincial standard (Level 3/B) for mathematics (specifically number sense and numeration) at their grade-level (usually February report card) and the Student Support Teacher (SST) coordinates the registrations.

Students must plan to attend for the entire 3 weeks, as assessment and instruction are tightly planned and places are in high demand.

Highlights from the 2018 season

Registration: If your child meets our criteria and you are interested in this program, please let their classroom teacher and/or Student Support Teacher know. Registration packs are sent out to parents in mid-April from the school and registrations for all sites are coordinated centrally by our Program Assistant in May.

Sessions and schedule: This is a three week session that runs at the start of the summer break. Our program day runs much like a balanced school day from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. We offer recesses, nutrition breaks, daily physical activity (DPA) sessions and lots of interactive learning in addition to our focused number sense and numberation instruction.

Staffing: The program is taught by enthusiastic and skilled Instructors (qualified teachers), with a Tutor (a University student) assigned to each class to assist, and classes do not usually exceed 15 students. A Site Manager (an LDSB teacher) supervises staff and students at each site and communicates with the Program Manager who oversees all sites, staff and students.

Fees: The fee for this three-week program is $250 per child. Cheques are payable to the Limestone District School Board (no post-dated cheques). Transportation and before-and-after care are the responsibility of parents/guardians.

The Limestone District School Board is situated on traditional territories of the Anishinaabe & Haudenosaunee.
