Labour Update week of Feb. 18-21
Posted on 02/24/2020
Students in the Limestone District School Board will be impacted by a province-wide strike on February 21, 2020 by members of the four largest education unions in Ontario, including the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF).

As a result, all elementary and secondary schools in the LDSB will be closed Friday, February 21, 2020. Students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 should not report to school on this day.

Secondary students attending co-operative education placements and those attending Dual Credit and School-within-a-College (SWAC) programs at St. Lawrence College should not attend work/school on February 21.

Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS), Adult ESL and Teacher Assisted Self-Study (TASS) programs will not run on February 21.

All secondary school-related events including sports sanctioned by the Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association (KASSAA), other extra-curricular activities, and field trips are cancelled. These items may be rescheduled where possible.

Child-care centres located within Limestone secondary schools remain open.

Community use of schools within Limestone secondary schools continue as scheduled. Users will be notified directly of any changes.

We ask for your ongoing patience and understanding during this legal job action. We continue to hope for a resolution at the central bargaining table and that an agreement can be reached soon. For more information, please contact:
