Unfortunately, the mediation between the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the Government of Ontario, and employer associations has ended without reaching a collective agreement. CUPE members across the province will begin job action and proceed with a partial withdrawal of services effective Monday, September 30.

This means in the Limestone District School Board — custodians, maintenance staff, office administrators, clerical staff, early childhood educators, educational assistants, communicative disorders assistants, and information technology technicians — will also be engaged in job action Monday.

The LDSB will be monitoring the situation with a particular emphasis on the impact of student safety and well-being. We recognize the valuable work that CUPE members perform for our students and in our schools, and we hope bargaining can resume and all parties can reach fair, mutually agreeable agreements as quickly as possible.

Updates will be provided via regular school and Board communication channels. Look for the Labour Update on the LDSB website home page.
