Update February 26, 2021: Further investigation has confirmed that the potential positive case of COVID-19 identified at Polson Park Public School was a false positive. This does happen occasionally, and public health’s response will always be to exercise an abundance of caution to protect the health of the community. The dismissed cohort will return to school March 1, 2021 provided they pass the daily screening process and no one in their household has symptoms. We understand that this has been disruptive for the families and staff involved and the board and KFL&A Public Health appreciates their diligence in following public health direction.

---------------

KFL&A Public Health is investigating a potential positive case of COVID-19 in a student at École Polson Park Public School on February 24, 2021.

KFL&A Public Health has directed the dismissal and self-isolation of a cohort out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of protecting the school community.
KFL&A Public Health is reaching out to students and staff who may have been in close contact with the person being investigated. Not all students or staff will be affected by the potential positive case.

Families within the affected cohort and the larger school community have been notified by Limestone.

The board continues to work closely with KFL&A Public Health to ensure that necessary steps are taken to prevent further spread of the virus both in the school and the community.

Cases in schools must be reported locally and provincially. We are sharing this information with you to ensure you have accurate information. No further information will be released to maintain privacy.

Families are encouraged to continue to monitor and screen students daily for symptoms of COVID-19 as most cases of COVID-19 are acquired in the home setting. Please continue to follow all public health guidelines which include maintaining physical distance, wearing face coverings, and cleaning your hands frequently.

Please visit the COVID-19 Confirmed Cases webpage for a list of current cases.
