Director of Education Performance Appraisal
Posted on 08/15/2024
All school boards in Ontario, including ours, will now evaluate their Directors of Education every year, as of March 2024. This new annual assessment will be based on both mandatory criteria and any specific priorities set by our school board, as required by Ontario Regulation 83/24.
Previously, Limestone District School Board (LDSB) conducted these appraisals every two years.
The Director of Education plays a crucial role in promoting student achievement and well-being, as well as the overall success of our schools.
As the chief executive officer and chief education officer, the Director leads the development and implementation of the Board’s multi-year strategic plan. They ensure that all board procedures are followed and oversee all aspects of school board operations. The Director and senior staff work closely with Trustees to develop and implement this plan.
The Director is also the Secretary of the Board and is the only employee who reports directly to the Board of Trustees. The Education Act requires the Board of Trustees to monitor and evaluate the Director’s performance.
LDSB Trustees have formed a committee to handle this annual appraisal. They have finalized the performance plan and evaluation cycle and have informed the Minister of Education, as required by the regulation.
