All LDSB schools will be open Monday, Oct. 7, 2019. All students and staff should report to schools and work sites.

A tentative deal has been reached between the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the government and the employer association. While a ratification vote has yet to occur, CUPE staff will resume their duties immediately. In Limestone, this include custodians, maintenance staff, office administrators, clerical staff, early childhood educators, educational assistants, communicative disorders assistants, and information technology technicians.

This also means that:

  • extra-curricular activities will resume as scheduled.
  • child-care facilities operating in our schools, including before-and after-care, may operate as scheduled.
  • Community Use of Schools programs may operate as scheduled.

We understand this has been a difficult time for all of our students, staff, families and broader community. We are grateful for everyone’s patience and understanding during a fluid and uncertain situation.

We will continue to work together to provide our students with meaningful and relevant learning opportunities to support their achievement and well-being.

Further updates will be shared with families and through the Board’s website and social media channels as required.

Debra Rantz,
Director of Education
