As part of the Ministry of Education’s enhanced COVID-19 school protocols, school boards are required to offer voluntary asymptomatic COVID-19 testing to students, staff and bus drivers.

Targeted testing is voluntary. Parent/guardian consent is required for testing of students under the age of 18. This testing is only for students, staff and bus drivers who do not have COVID-19 symptoms. This testing is only for students, staff and bus drivers who do not have COVID-19 symptoms, are not close contacts of someone who tested positive for COVID, or individuals who are part of an active Public Health outbreak investigation. The asymptomatic time slots are specifically for those with no symptoms or risk factors.

Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 must self-isolate and get tested for COVID-19 at a Community Assessment Centre.

The Limestone District School Board has entered into an agreement with both the Kingston Community Assessment Centre and the Napanee Community Assessment Centre to conduct asymptomatic testing during specific dates and times assigned to each family of schools. Once all schools have been through one rotation, the schedule will begin again. If registrations are low, the board may combine families of schools into a single testing week. Families will be reminded of their asymptomatic testing one week in advance.

Families must book appointments for students using the assessment centre’s existing booking process (online or by telephone). Please ensure you use the online booking link provided below, or, if you are booking by telephone, indicate you are a Limestone student or staff member at time of booking. Walk-ins are not permitted. Testing of asymptomatic family members is also not permitted under this program.

  • Kingston Assessment Centre (KHSC) or 613.548.2376. Appointments are available from 4-4:30 p.m. daily. Should there be no registrations, or insufficient registrations, scheduled by 10 a.m. the same day, testing will be cancelled for that day. Staff will be invited to reschedule on a different testing day.
  • Napanee Assessment Centre (LACGH) or 613.354.8254. Appointments are available from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily via drive-thru.

Students and staff may continue to attend school/work while awaiting asymptomatic test results provided they pass the daily COVID-19 screening.

Please note the test conducted at the assessment centres is a PCR test (nose swab) which has both increased sensitivity and specificity compared to rapid antigen tests and results in more true positives being identified.

Results are available through an online portal. If an individual receives a positive COVID-19 test, regular protocols will be enacted by KFL&A Public Health.

The school board will not receive test results from asymptomatic testing. Personal health information may only be provided to the school board for the purpose of contact tracing. Names of individuals who test positive for COVID-19 and their contacts will not be disclosed publicly.
