Across the Limestone District School Board, teachers and schools are working to enhance the experience of First Nations, Métis and Inuit students, and are highlighting Indigenous teachings and perspectives for all students.

To achieve these goals, the Board has:

  • created support materials to help teachers infuse Indigenous worldviews and perspectives into their classes;

  • culturally-enriched elementary and secondary programs for First Nations, Métis and Inuit students;

  • offers special events that allow students to receive teachings from Elders and traditional knowledge keepers;

  • an Indigenous Education Advisory Council to provide guidance on educational and cultural matters; and

  • an Indigenous Self-Identification program to allow our schools to better understand and meet the educational needs of students with First Nations, Métis and Inuit ancestry.
