Regulation 181/98 of the Education Act requires that all school boards set up Identification, Placement and Review Committees (IPRC)s. An IPRC is composed of at least three people, one of whom must be a Principal or a Supervisory Officer of the Board or their designate. Other committee members may include: Student Support Teacher/Learning Program Support Teacher and other school or Board staff.
The Limestone District School Board believes parents/guardians and students play a significant role in this process. It is our goal to provide programming and services to respond to the unique academic needs and well-being of our students.
The IPRC will:
-
decide whether or not your child should be identified as exceptional;
-
identify the areas of your child’s exceptionality, according to the
categories and definitions of exceptionalities provided by the Ministry of Education;
-
decide an appropriate placement for your child; and
-
review the identification and placement at least once in each school year.
