The Board of Trustees are required to carry out their responsibilities in a manner that assists the Board in fulfilling its duties under the Education Act. There are provincially-mandated elements that boards embed in their policies which boards cannot change (e.g. budget, code of conduct, protection of privacy, etc.)
Public input is an important part of the Board's approval process in providing valuable feedback on policies being reviewed or under consideration. Offering your comments on any proposed edits in a draft policy provides the Board with a broader understanding of the issues surrounding the draft document.
When policies are under review, the public is invited to provide feedback via email. The Board of Trustees welcome and value public input from students, parents, and members of the community about Board policies, practices, issues and its overall education system.
